Washingtonian Declares: Cucina Morini Leads Local Trend on Cheap Martinis!

Friday April 25, 2025

In a recent articleWashingtonian noted the impact Mount Vernon Triangle’s Cucina Morini has had on a district-wide trend for sub-$10 tinis being offered at upscale restaurants. Since opening a little over a year ago, the southern Italian inspired restaurant has sold an estimated 50,000 $7 martinis! According to the article: “Cucina Morini chef-partner Matt Adler says the restaurant’s management was initially nervous about offering such a cheap deal for such extended hours. But it turned out to be a huge draw: “People were lining up for it when we opened,” Adler says. “Wednesday, it really starts ramping up… Fridays, oh my God. Packed to the gills all night long.'” A year later, sales are still going strong at Cucina Morini and other DC restaurants are adopting the idea and experiencing similar results.
