Prather’s Alley the Subject of Recent American Institute of Architects (AIA) Conference Tour

Friday June 14, 2024

Last Saturday, June 8, MVT CID welcomed more than 40 architects in town attending the American Institute of Architects (AIA) annual conference to tour Prather’s Alley and the FRESHFARM MVT Market. The tour was led by Elizabeth Emerson of EL Studio, with whom MVT CID partnered to design and execute the project’s community engagement, Prather’s Alley safety infrastructure, and cultural storytelling components.

After meeting at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, tour attendees were escorted to 4th & K Streets NW while also learning more about the project’s methodology. The tour continued down Prather’s Alley for a showcase of the transportation safety and artistic elements and ended a the FRESHFARM MVT Market where participants were treated to a cooking demonstration at our award-winning MVT Mobile Kiosk

It’s an honor to know that this project – all made possible through funding from the DC Office of Planning’s “Streets for People” grant program – continues to serve the needs of our community while also possibly inspiring the creation of future similar projects in cities across America!
