New Mural at 5th & K Celebrates the Legacy of Dr. King

Monday January 18, 2021

In honor of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, which seeks to encourage Americans to volunteer to improve their communities, the Mount Vernon Triangle CID partnered with P.A.I.N.T.S. Institute and the owners of the property at 476 K Street NW to activate a large scale, public mural at the intersections of 5th & K Streets NW.

Entitled “Voices for Change: Representation, Progress & Hope,” the commemorative mural – which serves as a celebration of community, arts and education – aims to unite and rally all Americans to work toward peaceful, positive change. The mural is a collaboration among local artists Shawn PerkinsLevi Robinson and Dez Zambrano.

The artists will be at work through early evening today, January 18, so feel free to stop to watch creation of the mural in real time. And stay tuned to Triangle Times and our social media @mvtcid for further coverage of this vibrant new addition at this important Intersection in our Mount Vernon Triangle community.
