Washington, DC – The Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District (MVTCID) has been awarded a grant from the Department of Small and Local Business Development for cleaning and improving public space in Mount Vernon Triangle. The grant amount is $123,000.
“DSLBD is pleased to assist MVTCID with the extension of its clean team and public maintenance services through the BID Litter Cleanup Assistance Program,” said Phyllis Love, Assistant Director for the Department of Small and Local Business Development. “ The expanded services will become increasingly important as activity builds with the opening of new retailers, restaurants, and residential units.” The grant funding is for a 12-month period and was available to small BIDs and Main Street organizations whose budgets do not exceed $1 million. The funding will allow MVTCID to maintain a four-person “Clean Team” seven days a week, purchase a truck, hire a part-time landscaper to weed and mulch 240 tree boxes, and maintain six parks.
“We are so pleased to be the recipient of this generous grant which will allow us to increase cleaning services throughout Mount Vernon Triangle, as well as launch a landscaping program,” stated Jeff Miller, Chairman of MVTCID.
