Tree Planting in Triangle Park – March 27

Washington, D.C., March 27, 2009 – Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District is planting 34 trees in the Triangle Park (D.C. Park 1089) located at 3rd Street and Massachusetts Avenue, NW on Friday, March 27 from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Forty volunteers from around the neighborhood are coming to dig holes, plant trees, mulch, and water. Tools and instructions will be provided, along with light refreshments. This event will go on rain or shine.
This project was made possible through a partnership with the Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District, DC Department of Parks & Recreation, and Casey Trees, which is providing the trees
The mission of Casey Trees is to restore, enhance, and protect the tree canopy of the nation’s Capital. Casey Trees was made possible by the generosity of Betty Brown Casey, a longtime area resident and philanthropist who made a generous donation through the Garden Club of America to establish an endowment for a new nonprofit organization for the District of Columbia in 2001: Casey Trees.
