Washington, DC – The Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District was awarded a restricted grant from the Department of Small and Local Business Development. The funds are made possible through a grant from the District of Columbia’s Department of Public Works. “We are very excited about this grant being awarded to Mount Vernon Triangle CID because it is an indicator that we are a successful organization,” stated executive director Bill McLeod. “Since we have the smallest budget of all the BIDs in DC, this grant gives us the ability to improve our clean services as Safeway prepares to open.” The grant funding is for 12 months and will allow MVTCID to hire a landscaper to weed and mulch the 240 tree boxes around Mount Vernon Triangle and will enable the Clean Team to expand from two to four members working seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District (MVTCID) is a nonprofit organization established to enhance the quality of life for residents, visitors, employees, and property owners by providing clean and safe services, marketing, fostering planning and economic development, as well as preserving green space in Mount Vernon Triangle.
MVTCID’s boundaries comprise 15 blocks within the east end of downtown Washington, D.C. bordered by Seventh Street on the west, New York Avenue on the north, New Jersey Avenue on the east, and Massachusetts Avenue, 6th Street, and K Street on the south. Over 650,000 square feet of new properties have been developed in the Triangle, with another 260,000 square feet of land under construction.
