Job-Training Fair Offered March 18
(Washington, D.C.) The Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District is partnering with ANC6C Mark Dixon, Mount Airy Baptist Church, and the People’s Involvement Corporation for a job-training fair on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 starting at 1:00 p.m., located in Mount Airy Baptist Church; 1100 North Capitol Street, NW. A job-training fair differs from a job fair in that training programs are showcased to those wanting to learn new skills to prepare them for the workforce. This event is free and open to the public. “This job-training fair is our way of bringing opportunities to the doorsteps of local residents,” said Mark Dixon, ANC6C. “We hope that residents will take advantage of these free job-training programs to better their lives through new jobs coming to the area.”
Presenting job-training programs include Safeway for retail training, Goodwill for construction training, Washington Area Women in the Trades for construction training geared towards women, Anchor Renaissance Institute for construction training, and Strive DC for life-skills training and job readiness.
The Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District is a nonprofit organization established to enhance the quality of life for residents, visitors, employees, and property owners. The first Business Improvement District to include residential as well as commercial property owners, MVTCID provides street-cleaning services, enhances public safety, encourages investment, and fosters planning and economic development.
