(Washington, D.C.) The Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District awarded Gerry Widdicombe its 2007 Public Service Award for outstanding leadership and service to the organization. Widdicombe received the award at the Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District’s Annual Meeting on September 20, 2007, which was held at Mount Carmel Baptist Church.
“There is no one more deserving of this award than Gerry Widdicombe,” stated Charles (Sandy) Wilkes, MVTCID Secretary. “He was instrumental in forming the Community Improvement District, and without his direction and persistence, this organization would not have gotten off the ground.”
In his current position with the Downtown BID, Widdicombe focuses on housing and retail policies and directs the organization’s research efforts. From May 2004 to December 2006, he served as executive director of the MVTCID. He was appointed to the Board of Directors in December 2006, and was reelected during the meeting.
Along with Widdicombe, four other members of the Board were re-elected: Dr. Joseph Evans – Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Jeff Miller – Trammell Crow, Guy Steuart – Steuart Investment Company, and Charles (Sandy) Wilkes – The Wilkes Company. Ivory Toldson is a newly elected resident representative to the Board from 555 Mass – a condominium development located in Mount Vernon Triangle.
The Mount Vernon Triangle Community Improvement District is a nonprofit organization established to enhance the quality of life for residents, visitors, employees, and property owners by providing clean and safe services, marketing, and fostering planning and economic development in Mount Vernon Triangle.
