High Bike Score Means Bike Etiquette Matters

Saturday October 21, 2017

With a 97 Walk Score, 100 Transit Score and 86 Bike Score from walkscore.com, Mount Vernon Triangle has earned the distinction of being a walker’s, biker’s and rider’s paradise due to its centralized location in the heart of downtown DC and unparalleled accessibility. With so many of us sharing the sidewalks as well as the advent of multiple dockless bike share providers during a seven-month demonstration period, we thought this would be a good time to remind everyone of good biking etiquette!

  • Don’t block an entrance to a building
  • Don’t block a curb ramp (where wheelchairs/strollers/etc. can go on and off the sidewalk)
  • Don’t block the area where people walk; park out of the flow of pedestrians (the area between the tree boxes is ideal)
  • If there is a bike rack, put it at or near it
